To create a db in plesk just do the following:
Login to plesk -> Home (on the left) -> Databases Icon (center) -> Add new Database (top) ->
put in a database name (your plesk username_dbname == preferred) & select MSSQL or MySQL for the DB type -> click "OK" ->
click "Add new database user" (center, left) -> put the db username you want to use in the top field & put the password you want to use in the respective fields -> click "OK" ->
Done
When connecting to your DB be sure to use "localhost" (w/o the quotes) as the servername because this is the quickest way.
